Eastern Algarve Tour
TOUR TO OLHÃO, TAVIRA, CACELA VELHA, AND VILA REAL ST. ANTÓNIO
A full-day private tour to visit the Best that the Eastern Algarve has to offer starts with a visit to Olhão, an important fishing and canning industry centre.
There are plenty of things to do in Olhão, the highlight of the town is the local market's popular commerce of fresh food products. This building was recently renovated and is held as a landmark due to its unique architecture, designed by the famous engineer Alexandre Eiffel and built-in 1915. Olhão old quarters are worth a walk with free time to explore the cubist houses and maze of narrow cobbled stone streets.
The next visit will be Tavira, an old charming town with as many as 23 catholic churches and a 4th-century roman bridge. Tavira Old town has a past in the tuna fishing and canning industry, despite being very picturesque, many of Tavira´s attractions are still unspoiled by tourism.
The next stop is the Panoramic view of Cacela Velha, the magnificent scenery of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, an essential picture-stop before moving on to the next town.
Vila Real de Santo António is the Algarve border town with Spain, remarkably planned in 1774 by Marquês de Pombal, with all roads crossing perpendicular, forming squares in an organized pattern. This well-preserved town had an active cross-border trade when transportation on the Guadiana River to Ayamonte was made by ferry. Better means are now available with the aid of the emblematic bridge build to link Portugal with the Andalucia region of Spain.
The ezClick private Eastern Algarve Tour is provided in air-conditioned vehicles with English-speaking drivers. The Eastern Algarve Tour should take roughly 8 hours and the driver will charge guests overtime directly. These tours are not accompanied by an official tour guide.
