A full-day tour to discover the history and culture of the Algarve initiating in Silves, known to the Arabs as Xelb, was a flourishing trade centre when it became the Moorish capital of Algarve. On the top of the hill is the castle of Silves and the 13th-century cathedral built by the Christians on the ruins of a mosque.
The next destination will be Monchique, a typical village in the mountains covered with an exotic and unusual mixture of magnolia, eucalyptus, pine, chestnut, cork oak, and strawberry trees.
The tour will continue to the city of Lagos- there are many tourist attractions and sights in Lagos, the city of the Portuguese discoveries 15th/16th centuries, such as the first slave market in Europe, the statue of Henry, The Navigator, and the golden church of Saint Anthony.
Next we will visit Sagres, including CAPE ST. VINCENT, the south-westernmost point in Europe having one of the most powerful lighthouses. Proceeding this tour to Baleeira, an important fishing harbour, and where you can enjoy the view of the 15th-century fortress of Sagres, related to the life of Prince Henry, the Navigator.
