Portimao Circuit – Algarve Motorsport Park

The Algarve Motorsport Park also known as the Portimao Circuit is a 4.692 km (2.915 mi) race circuit in the Algarve. This motorsports complex includes the Algarve International Autodrome, the Algarve International Kartdrome, a technology park, sports center, and a five-star hotel along with other infrastructures to host top motorsports venues.

The Algarve Motorsport Park covers 300 hectares of land, with an initial cost of €195 million, and may accommodate up to 100k spectators including the VIP Tower. The circuit and main infrastructures were built in seven months, completed, and homologated by both FIM and FIA during October 2008.

The World Superbike Championships was the first big event hosted that autumn, followed by rounds of the A1GP championship, the Le Mans Series, FIA GT as well as the World Superbikes, followed by WTCC and GP2 in 2010.

Many professional racing drivers and teams were impressed with the challenging layout of the circuit which promoted excellence racing and in October 2010 agreed to add the Algarve Motorsport Park to the Formula 1 testing calendar.

Resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic disruption and Portugal's success in dealing with it, in July 2020 it was announced that the Algarve Motorsport Park would be hosting the F1 Portuguese Grand Prix from 23 to 25 October 2020; and later in August 2020, announced that the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix Portimão would also be hosted from 20 to 22 November 2020.
