Discover the magnificent landscape of the Sado estuary, surrounding natural areas and its famous ex-libris... the dolphins.
The Sado Estuary Nature Reserve is located in the district of Setúbal. It’s well worth a visit at any time of the year. Spring and Summer, are ideal for relaxing on the magnificent beaches, in particular in Comporta, Carvalhal and Pego. Autumn and Winter are ideal for birdwatching - due to the high number of migratory birds primarily from Northern Europe.
Go on a river cruise along the Sado Estuary and observe the Bottlenose Dolphins - which can only be found in this zone and represent its brand image. In the marshland areas, it’s common to see flocks of pink flamingos flying over the boats. It's difficult to resist the temptation to go for a refreshing dip in the waters, with the Arrábida Mountains against the horizon.
Abundant wild life, long, deserted beaches, archaeological vestiges, fine restaurants... You'll discover all this and much, much more in the Sado Estuary. Make the most of your holidays and discover this magical setting!
