Lisbon City

Lisbon City

We wish to invite you to discover Lisbon! A city with more than 20 centuries of history, built on several hills at the point where the River Tagus meets the Atlantic Ocean.

For almost the entire year, a bright sunlit sky lights up the modern and cosmopolitan city of Lisbon, the venue for all kinds of major events and the ideal place for shopping, lively nightlife, and lots of interesting museums. Discover the city by taking a ride on the 28 tram or walking through the center, rebuilt in the 18th century by the Marquês de Pombal, or the more typical historical quarters of Alfama and Bairro Alto, where at night you can listen to the traditional Fado music.

Make your way up to the Castle and commit the unforgettable view from up there forever to your memory. Take a boat trip on the River Tagus and see the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and the Torre de Belém. Hop on the underground and ride out to the Parque das Nações where you can discover one of Europe’s largest Oceanariums.

While you’re enjoying a break for a cup of coffee at the “Brasileira” or savoring the delights of the famous pastéis de Belém, you can take some time to plan your trip around the rest of the region. Close by is all the charm of the romantic town of Sintra, classified as World Heritage, the ideal place for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

Along the beautiful coastline of Costa do Estoril enjoy a dip in the sea or a round of golf. Further north, get to know one of the world’s great centers of pilgrimage: Fátima. Visit monasteries classified as World Heritage sites, such as Alçobaça and Batalha or the Convento de Cristo in Tomar.

Explore the medieval town of Óbidos or the city of Santarém and its surrounding meadowland, the home of the famous Lusitanian horse. To round off your trip, succumb to the irresistible call of the sea and head southwards. Discover the natural park of Serra da Arrábida and the city of Setúbal and relax on one of the beaches of Tróia.

All this and much, much more help to make Lisbon and its region one of the best holiday destinations in Europe. Accept our invitation… Lisbon beaches are waiting for you!
